The motor
faced the stern, not the bow as represented in the model.
There are
three solutions for this vent.
For
All Three
- Cut off
the gluing tab and angled duct on the side of the motor housing.
- Fashion
a duct from scrap plastic or sprue and file a curve on the
underside to match the curve of Vent 11 that it will be joined
to.
- Whichever
option you use the completed assembly to the deckhouse roof
just slightly forward of the suggested location. Make sure
the rear of the vent covers the tab hole.
Option
1
Cut the
top curled section off the lower motor unit. Turn this 180 degrees
and glue it back on to the motor unit so the curl is now pointing
away from the motor.
Option
2
- Cut the
whole curl vent from the the motor unit. i.e. the cut should
be up and down behind the motor unit. Reshape the bottom of
the curl vent as seen in the diagram above.
- Scratch
build a left handed motor unit as described in the Motor
Unit section of the Vent Overview.
- Glue
the curl vent onto the motor unit with the curl facing forward.
Option
3
- Cut off
and reshape the curl vent as described in Option 2.
- Now you
need to make the existing motor unit into a left handed motor
unit.
- To do
this you need to square the bottom and move the curved section
to the opposite side.
- To square
up the curves take two pieces of scrape plastic the same width
as the housing or slightly greater (Evergreen 2mm sheet works
well). Cut small squares approx. 7mm x 7mm and then cut these
in half diagonally, you will need three triangles. File a
curve in the center of each diagonal. Keep testing them against
the curves of the motor unit until you get them just right
then CA glue glue the curve of the vent to the hollow in the
plastic triangle.
- When
dry trim off the excess plastic and file square.
- Now file
the curve on the right hand side of the motor unit.
- Glue
the curl vent onto the motor unit with the curl facing forward.
